SM: Pfizer said today it has agreed to acquire King Pharmaceuticals for $14.25 per share, or $3.6 billion in cash. The offer is a 40% premium over King's closing price yesterday. Pfizer said the transaction will expand its business profile, including additional offerings in pain management. The boards of both companies have approved the deal. Pfizer said it expects the transaction to be accretive to its adjusted diluted earnings by $0.02 per share in 2011 and 2012, and by $0.03 to $0.04 annually in 2013 through 2015.
